Sir Godfrey Rhodes was my great uncle. His brother Hal Rhodes was my grandfather. Though Sir Godfrey died before I had a chance to know him, it is with great appreciation to the Empire Club for preserving his speech from 1946. It is wonderful to read my ancestor's words and analysis of the situation that he confronted in WW2. I found particularly interesting, the last paragraph of his speech and how applicable it remains some 75 years later.
